Antivirus v7 Software
eTrust Antivirus v7, formerly InoculateIT,
is the flagship anti-virus offering from Computer Associates, the software company
known for market leading products. (Including ArcServe backup
software, the industry standard.) SoftProse Technology, Inc.
is pleased to offer CA software, including the eTrust Antivirus
v7 in both Workgroup and Enterprise editions.
eTrust Antivirus in the Workgroup and Enterprise
editions can be configured to automatically update all computers
on an office network from a central server. If a central server
is not available, individual client computers can update themselves
directly from Computer Associates. A typical configuration has
all network computers checking for updated virus protection every
four hours.
InoculateIT can protect Windows XP, Windows
2000, Windows ME, Windows 9x, and even Macintosh systems.
The software does not appear to interfere with
PC operations. We are not aware of any performance problems.
Unlike some other anti-virus products, the operation of the software
appears to be transparent and trouble-free.
Computer Associates has made a reputation on
solid business software that performs as promised. The software
can be trusted on critical servers, and is recommended for that
role.
eTrust Antivirus v7 in corporate versions does
not require "annual subscriptions". Rather, virus protection
is purchased for the life of the "program version".
In practical terms, this appears to be at least three to six
years. This proposal should be viewed as three to six years of
virus protection for your entire office network. Upgrades are
about 1/3 the cost of new software.
As part of this installation, SoftProse Technology,
Inc. will include technology to automatically install configured
versions of the software on each computer that logs into the
network, if they have not had the software already installed.
This greatly eases the complexity of distributing the software,
and insures that each logged-in user has the software in place
and protecting their computer. It is also ideal for laptop or
occassional users.
eTrust Antivirus v7 in a Workgroup Edition
is sold in a base version for 25 users. This can be expanded
to additional users at a cost of $25 per user, in 5 user increments.
This is very competitive with other anti-virus software products.
Again, note that there are no "yearly subscriptions"
required for updates with eTrust Antivirus v7's Workgroup Edition.
