Choosing a
hosting service for a web site, and managing the vendors involved,
is only one step in the maintenance of an Internet presence.
Other issues include the correction and addition of information
to the pages of the web site, adding and correcting programmed
links, and a variety of other periodic tasks. These tasks are
typically performed by a person in a position known as a "Webmaster".
The duties
of a Webmaster for the most web sites can be clearly defined,
and in most cases would not be beyond the abilities of a competent
computer user. However, there are uncertainties when managing
a web site without professional supervision.
We currently offer two
Webmaster support service options.

POINT
OF SERVICE PLAN
SoftProse's Point of Service
(POS) plan is designed for organizations with in-house Internet
maintenance staff, but with occasional needs for outside assistance.
It is intended as a support backup service for your company web
site, not as a full Webmaster service. (The POS plan may be used
in this role, but could be less cost-effective. Please see our
Premium Webmaster Plan for a more
efficient package for complete web site support.)
The Point of Service plan includes
backup support for your web site, as follows:
- Includes an Overview Report,
detailing features, functions, and potential problem areas with
your current web site.
- Provides a secondary resource
for all Internet support issues relating to your web site.
- Alternative Technical support
contact for web site issues.
- Support for installed programming
and forms, within limits of HTML, JavaScript, ASP.NET, PERL, Cold Fusion,
and select other programming languages.
- Page creation or Acrobat PDF
document creation, as required.
- Weekend and off-hour emergency
service is available with our Prepaid option.
- The POS plan, as stated, is
available for a site of up to 100 pages.
- Certain exceptional changes
outside of standard maintenance may incur additional fees.
Proposal Pricing:
Service
hours are 9 AM-5 PM EST, Monday to Friday
POS Webmaster Services
are billed in 15 minute increments:
- Our POS service is $40
per increment, plus a $400 one-time setup fee. (Includes
our report on your web site.)
- Prepaid service is $35 per
increment. Evening and weekend emergency service is available
at $80 per increment with a Prepaid POS account with a
positive balance.
Payment Schedule:
- The first payment would be $400.
Services following this startup fee would be billed at $40
per 15 minute increment.
- Prepaid plans are available
for the startup fee of $400, plus eight increments of service
@ $35 per 15 minute increment, for a total of $680. Additional
eight increments of service will be billed for $280 when
five or more prepaid increments have been used.
OUR
PREMIUM WEBMASTER PLAN
In this proposal, SoftProse Technology,
Inc. offers a professional service that includes the Webmaster
role and absorbs responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance
of your web site along with the financial obligations to the
vendors involved. Our goal is to provide a "No Worries"
service, with all administrative details managed and accounted
for.
SoftProse is pleased to offer
our Premium Webmaster service plan. This maintenance plan
includes all routine upkeep on a company web site, as described
below.
- Includes all ISP fees, service
charges, and domain name registrations, with appropriate service
plans on a major nationwide web site provider.
- Complete web site file support,
link maintenance, and editing/updating of existing pages.
- Technical support contact for
all web site issues.
- Maintenance of Email addresses,
Email forwarding, Email account creation, etc.
- Support for installed programming
and forms, within limits of HTML, JavaScript, PERL, Cold Fusion,
and select other programming languages.
- This maintenance plan includes
the creation of 2 new pages per month or 24 pages per year, based
on existing templates. Page creation with existing templates
beyond 24 pages will be billed at a rate of $75 per page.
- This maintenance plan includes
the creation and linking of 6 new Acrobat PDF documents per month
or 72 documents per year, based on formatted documents prepared
for submission to the web site. Acrobat PDF document creation
and linking beyond 72 documents will be billed at a rate of $25
per document.
- A monthly report will be returned
on log traffic to the web site. This report will detail the number
of hits, maximum and minimum page selections, and flag any special
traffic patterns.
- All ISP billing, domain name
ownership, etc. will be made in the name of your company. (This
protects your company's interests, and your relationship with
the vendors.)
- Changes to the content of web
pages may be sent to a private Email address, or made by fax
or phone to our numbers listed above. Up to 20 change requests
can be submitted per calendar month. Additional changes are billed
at $50 per request.
- Weekend and off-hour emergency
service is available. One incident per calendar month is included.
Additional emergency service will be billed at $80 per 15 minute
increment.
- This maintenance plan, as stated,
is available for a site of up to 150 pages. Please inquire for
support of larger sites.
- Certain exceptional changes
outside of standard maintenance may incur additional fees. This
may include exceptional software and programming support issues,
changes in the web site service plan, changes in DNS settings
for the domain name, and design changes to templates and/or installed
pages.
PREMIUM WEBMASTER PLAN WEB
SERVER FEATURES
Below
are specifics about the Web Server platform included with our
Premium Webmaster service plan.
Do you already have a web site, with an ISP
host that you would prefer to keep? We can work with your current
ISP to deliver an equivalent service. (Using a different ISP
will involve changes in pricing from the proposal listed here.)
- 200mb of data storage for web
site pages and documents.
- Up to 5000 Megabits of data
transfer per month are included.
(Site usage over this may incur additional charges.
This would be a very unusual amount of activity.)
- 20 Email POP accounts, with
online maintenance page.
(Email maintenance is included in our service plan.)
- FTP access to all web pages
and directories.
- Web-based control panel for
site administration.
- Full PERL and CGI library. Independent
cgi-local directory for scripts.
- Apache web server, running on
UNIX for maximum performance.
- Support for Server Side Includes
(SSL).
- HTTP security for individual
directories.
- Secure Sockets Layer encryption
available. (Requires Secure Certificate.)
- Access to Apache log files,
detailing all visitors and every web page selected.
- Automated backup and recovery
of web site in event of server failure.
- Multi-homed service with three
major T3 backbones.
(This provides a defense against a single data line failing,
and insures that visitors will have a smaller number of "router
hops" to reach the site.)
Proposal Pricing:
Service hours are
9 AM-5 PM EST, Monday to Friday
- Our premium service is $400
per month, billed every six months, plus a $400 setup
fee.
- $2,400 biannually, $4,800 per year, plus a one-time $400
setup fee.
Payment Schedule:
- The first payment would be for
$2,800.
- Six months later another payment
for $2,400. would be due, and each 6 months thereafter.
